Our Competitive Cheer Team

Get to know the athletes on our competitive cheerleading team!

Avery Parker

Third/Backspot

Avery Parker is in her second year at Trent University studying Biomedical Science.
This is her second year on the team! Prior to joining Trent Cheer she competed for her high school's team for a year. 
Avery's favourite part of cheer is seeing the hard work pay off and all the confidence and sass that comes out in competition.

Brooke MacDuff

Flyer/Top

Brooke is in her second year at Trent University studying Psychology.
Brooke was one of our many rookies who joined the team last year, and is back for her second year!
Despite being a rookie to cheer before, she was no rookie to the balance, precision and body positions the sport requires, having thirteen years of experience as a figure skater with Manver Skating Club. Additionally, she has three years of gymnastics experience with Champions Gymnastics.
Brooke's favourite part of cheer is the stunting!

Bryanna Mitchell-Smith

Base

Bryanna is in her first year at Trent University getting her Double Major Degree in Forensics and Psychology. 
Prior to joining Trent Cheer, Bryanna cheered at Black Widow Cheer Gym for two years at level 3 and level 4.2.
Bryanna loves everything about cheer including how it teaches you to push your limits and rely on your teammates.

Callie Killeen

Base & Front

Callie is in her third year at Trent in the Teacher's Education Stream majoring in History.

This is her third year on the team, and for 16 years she danced with The Dance Studio and Boutique.

Her favourite part of cheer are the friends and memories that are made!

​Callie was the Team Captain for the 2016-2017 season and is also a member of the Pom Team.

Chloe Todd Bachelder

Flyer/Top

This is Chloe's second year at Trent, majoring in English with an Option of Theatre Studies.

This is Chloe's second year on the team, but prior to that she was a total rookie!

Chloe's favourite part of cheerleading is stunting and the confidence she finds in being in the air.

​Chloe is our Social Media Coordinator and a part of the Events Committee.

Ciara Chute

Base

Ciara is in her first year at Trent studying Business Administration. 
This is Ciara's first experience with cheer but she is a Level 7 gymnast who competed with Forest City Gymnastics Club for three years.
Ciara's favourite part of cheer is tumbling and her teammates!

Emma Coleman

Flyer/Top and base

Emma is in her first year at Trent studying in the Teacher's Education Stream.
Emma has eight collective years of cheerleading experience, including school cheer and time with Kingston Elite All Stars.
Emma's favourite part of cheer is stunting!

Emily Vachon

Base

Emily is a Psychology major in her second year at Trent.
This is her first year on the team but she competed at Level 4.2 for Scorpions Niagara for three years and at the Small Senior Advanced level for her high school Notre Dame. 
Emily's favourite part of cheer is the stunting and bonding with her teammates

Heather Richardson

Third/Backspot

Heather is in her third year at Trent in the Nursing program! This is her first year doing cheer but she has 16 years of dance experience, 9 of those being competitive.

Her favourite parts of cheer are her teammates, dancing, and throwing people in the air!

Jennifer Feeney

Base

Jennifer is in her second year at Trent studying Forensic Science. This is Jennifer's first year on the team, but she came to try-outs after attending our 2017 stunt clinics!
Before joining cheerleading Jennifer did a year of Hip Hop dance.
Jennifer's favourite parts of cheerleading are all of the new friends she's made and the hard work it requires.

Jeremy Sousa

Base

Jeremy is in his third year at Trent studying Forensic Science, this is his second year on the team!
Jeremy's passion for cheer comes from his three years of Advanced High School cheer. Last year on the team Jeremy almost exclusively was a third, this year he is able to branch out and return to basing.
Jeremy's favourite part of Trent Cheer are all the friendships that are made!

Jocelyn Doyle

Base

Jocelyn is in her third year at Trent majoring in Psychology.

This is her second year on the team, competing last year as a third/backspot.

Jocelyn is involved with Trent's sorority, and ultimate frisbee team as well.

Jocelyn came to us with three years of cheer experience between high school and being at Cheer Strong. She also has dance experience in jazz and tap and is a member of our Pom Team.

Her favourite part of cheer is "literally everything."

Joey Luyben

Third/Backspot, Base, & Front

Joey is in second year Computing. Having no prior experience Joey is one of our total rookies!
His favourite part of cheer thus far is the stunting.

Katie Millar

Flyer/Top & Front

Katie is in her first year at Trent studying English in the Teacher's Education Stream.
Katie has based and flown before, most recently for Cheer Sport Sharks at Level 4.
Her favourite part of cheer is the feeling of soaring through the air and the rush of performing for a crowd!

Kelly Campbell

Base

Kelly is in her second year at Trent, and her second year on the team, studying Health Sciences in Kinesiology!
Kelly started gymnastics at the age of three and was a part of the Scottish Highland Squad from age six to thirteen. 
Kelly's favourite part of cheer is tumbling and the family!

Larissa Stevenson

Third/Backspot

Larissa is in her first year at Trent getting her Law and Arts Dual Degree.
Prior to joining Trent Cheer Larissa was a competitive gymnast for ten years with Northern Stars Gymnastics.
Larissa's favourite part about cheer is the familial atmosphere.

Madison Kacsmar

Third/Backspot

Madison is in her third year at Trent studying Business and Political Studies.

Madison has four years of dance experience in Jazz, Acro, Ballet, and Hip Hop with Just4Kicks Academy of Dance.

Her favourite part of Trent Cheer is all the things she's learned and people she's met!

Michelle Arshad

Flyer/Top

Michelle is in her first year at Trent University majoring in English in the Teacher Education Stream.
Michelle has fifteen years of dance experience, including on her high school dance team, at Janice Lynn studio, and Arts in Motion. 
Michelle's favourite part of cheer is the teamwork that it  takes to be successful. She also loves trying new things, getting to be active, and seeing the groups work together to build up one another's success.

Molly-Beth Kaiser

Base

This is Molly-Beth's second year at Trent and on the team, she's majoring in Psychology and minoring Cultural Studies.

Molly-Beth had been competing as a gymnast for five years, with four years additionally in high school gymnastics. Additionally Molly-Beth has done competitive cheerleading for six years, starting on a national level 4 team and moving up to compete at worlds in an International Open Small Co-ed Level 5 team, all at Kingston Elite All Stars.

Her favourite part of cheer is the experiences she's had and the second family she finds in her teammates and coaches.

Molly Hu

Base

Molly is in her fourth year at Trent University studying Chemistry and Forensics, she's also a Teacher's Assistant and a part of the Trent Central Student Association.
This is her first year on the team and her first year doing cheer! Molly brings enthusiasm and an amazing fun-filled attitude to all her stunts and is an amazing teammate!
Her favourite part of cheerleading is our team.

Morgain Miller

Flyer/Top

Morgain is in her first year at Sir Sanford Fleming College, studying to become an aesthetician. Morgain is one of our athletes from Fleming competing for Trent! 
This is Morgain's first year cheerleading and is one of our complete rookies!
Morgain's favourite part of cheer is the family aspect, in how supportive and caring everyone is!

Samantha Mitchell

Base

Samantha is in her second year at Trent studying in the Nursing program, and is joining us for her second year on the team.
Prior to joining the team Samantha was a rookie outside of a couple stunt clinics with Bears cheerleading, but she did have lots of experience in dance and gymnastics. Ten years with Norwell Cobras, seven years of dance with Encore, and five years of dance with Technique Dance Centre.
Samantha's favourite part of cheer is stunting and spending time with awesome people!

Sara Whincop

Third/Backspot

Sara Whincop is in her final year with Trent, and also Trent Cheer. Having been with the team since 2013, she is one of the founding members and we are sad to see her go!
Prior to joining Trent cheer, Sara had a background in dance!
She is one of our favourite things about Trent Cheer.

Sarah Crook

Base

This is Sarah's first year at Trent but not her first year cheering.
With 12 years under her belt between Simcoe County Stingrays and Cheer Core Collingwood, Sarah comes with a lot of experience!
Sarah's favourite part of cheer is tumbling, and when her stunts are strong!

Taylor Searl

Third/Backspot

Taylor is a student at Sir Sandford Fleming College, having previously attending Trent this is Taylor's third year on the team. 
Prior to joining Trent Cheer, Taylor cheered for and coached a Mini team at Fox Cheerleading, as well as cheered for three years at W.I. Dick Middle School, and for two years at Milton District High School.
Taylor's favourite part of cheerleading is going out on the competition floor with a killer routine and all her teammates.

Tessa VanZevenbergen

Tessa is in her third year at Trent University studying Nursing.
Tessa tried out for the team after attending our 2017 Stunt Clinics, held at Kawartha Gymnastics where Tessa works as a Level 2 Artistic Gymnastics Coach.
Tessa's favourite part of cheer are her wonderful teammates!

Alexandra Davis

Choreographer

Alex Davis is one of our UK exchange students, completing her third year while at Trent. Alex did competitive cheer before as a base with University of Birmingham Pussycat Cheer, and has 15 years of dance experience under her belt with Redbridge Classical Studio; her experiences ranges from jazz, to hip hop, to modern!
Alexandra's favourite part of cheer is  singing along and dancing around at practices.

Alicia Johnson

Alicia Johnson is another UK exchange student! 

Back home in England Alicia attended a dance school where she took Ballet, and Jazz!

Alicia's favourite part of joining Trent Cheer is getting to experience cheer in another country and getting to meet lovely people!

Amelia Budd

Amelia Budd is a first year Nursing student who comes to us with a competitive dance background from Simcoe Dance Academy.

Callie Killeen

Caroline Hillier

​

Caroline is in her first year at Trent, studying Forensics and Science. Caroline has 9 years of dance experience with The Dream Centre.
Caroline's favourite part of cheer is that everyone is always happy!

Ceilidh Delve

Ceilidh is in her third year at Trent, though it is her first year with Trent Cheer.
Ceilidh comes to us with dance experience from Leisa's School of Dance.
Her favourite part of cheer is her teammates and coaches.

Ella Carter

​

Ella is in her second year, studying English at Trent as an exchange student from the UK.
Ella has a dance background in jazz, tap, and ballet.
Her favourite part of cheer is dancing to Burlesque by Christina Aguilera, one of the songs in the Pom routine music.

Emily Hazelton

Emily is in her first year in the Trent Fleming School of Nursing.
Having danced from the age of six, Emily has experience in Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical and Acrobatics. 
Emily's favourite parts of cheer are being a part of a great team, getting the opportunity to represent the school, and create new friendships.

Emily Kittmer

Emily is in her second year at Trent studying Environmental Science.
Emily has experience in competitive dance, and extra athletic background in nordic skiing, baseball, and running cross country!
On cheer Emily says, "The Pom team was a great opportunity for me and I am very happy to be a part of this team!"

Josie Lennon

​

Josie is another one of our UK exchange students, completing her third year at Trent. Josie has a lot of experience in all backgrounds, with 15 years of dance, 5 years of cheerleading, and being a qualified gymnastics coach!
Josie's favourite part of cheer is the community!

Megan Derick

Megan is in her first year at Trent University studying Kinesiology.
Megan had never cheered before but has been dancing for as long as she can remember!
She loved her experience with cheer and can't wait to return and continue!

Olivia Paleczny

Olivia Paleczny is in her first year at Trent studying Nursing. Olivia has 12 years of dance experience, including Tap, Jazz, and Contemporary.
Olivia's favourite part of cheer is being able to meet and be with so many new and awesome people!

Rebecca Marlow

Rebecca is in her second year at Trent studying Kinesiology! 
This is her first year with Trent Cheer, and prior to joining Pom, Rebecca did dance from ages 3-15!
Rebecca's favourite part of cheer is meeting so many awesome new people!

Sarah Henley

Sarah is in her second year at Trent University.

This is her first year with Trent Cheer, and her first time doing anything cheer or dance related!

Sarah's favourite parts of cheer are stepping out of her comfort zone, and learning new things. She says, "Everyone is so lovely as well, so practices are always fun!"

Sunny Malone

Sunny is another one of our international exchange students! She's here at Trent studying Psychology.
Prior to joining Trent Pom she was a flyer for her university team back home, Plymouth Storm. This is her first experience with dance however, and cites her great coach and choreographer as being able to get her up to speed!
'm an international exchange student studying psychology. Before joining Trent Pom, I had been a flyer for my university team back home, Plymouth storm. I had no dance experience prior to Pom, luckily I had a great coach and choreographer who were determined to quickly catch me up to speed!
